Ingredients

Step by step guide

  • 1-inch cinnamon stick
  • 2 medium onions, cut into cubes
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp red chili powder
  • 2 medium tomatoes, cut into cubes
  • 2-3 green chilies
  • 4 tbsp yogurt/dahi
  • 3/4 cup browned onions
  • 1/4 cup of fresh mint leaves
  • Step 1 Take the required quantity of Daawat Brown Basmati Rice in a bowl, and rinse it thoroughly with water.
  • Step 2 Let the rice soak for 10-12 minutes, then drain the water and set the rice aside.
  • Step 3 Add 1-2 tbsps of ghee in a pot, and fry the eggs until they are light brown. Once done, set the eggs aside.
  • Step 4 Now, add the boiled potatoes to the pot, and fry them until they take on a reddish hue. Once done, remove and set them aside.
  • Step 5 In the same pot, add the cardamom pods, cloves, cinnamon, and onions.
  • Step 6 Saut√© until fragrant.
  • Step 7 Now mix in the ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, tomatoes, green chilies, and finally salt to taste.
  • Step 8 Mix it up, and then add your pre-soaked Daawat Brown Basmati Rice to the pot.
  • Step 9 Pour in the yogurt and add browned onions to the mixture.
  • Step 10 Top it up with fresh mint leaves.
  • Step 11 Cut the eggs previously set aside into two halves, and add them to the pot along with the potatoes and 1 cup of water. Mix it well.
  • Step 12 Heat these contents on a flame, and then gradually reduce the flame until the water starts to boil.
  • Step 13 Simmer and cover the pan with a lid.
  • Step 14 Continue cooking for 12-15 mins, or until the water is absorbed.
