Ingredients:

1 lb cooked meat
1 lg onion, boiled
Salt to taste
1 tsp lemon juice
2 oz butter
Cayenne pepper to taste
A pinch of mace

Meat Burtas

Method:
  1. Pound the onion well. Next pound the meat (underdone beef is best).
  2. Add as much pepper as will stand on a silver three penny piece, the same of mace, the salt and a few drops of lemon juice.
  3. Melt the butter in a saucepan, add all the ingredients, and cook very slowly for about 1/4 hour.
  4. Serve on buttered toast or fried bread.
    Serves 6
