Ingredients:

1 1/4 cup red chilies
1/2 cup bengal gram dal
1/2 cup black gram dal
1/4 cup sesame seeds
1 tsp. asafoetida powder
2 tbsps powdered jaggery
Small marble-sized tamarind (optional)
2 tsps oil
Salt to taste

Dosai Chili Powder

Method:
  1. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the red chilies, black gram dal, bengal gram dal, asafoetida powder and sesame seeds.
  2. Mix powdered jaggery, tamarind, salt to the above ingredients and grind to coarse powder.
  3. This makes an excellent accompaniment to dosais and idlis.
    Preparation time: 10 minutes
