Ingredients:

1 lb prawns
200g onions
200g garlic
30g ginger
1 tsp turmeric
1 cup coconut milk
1 tsp chili powder
2 bay leaves
6 cloves
10 cardamoms
2 cups of yogurt in 1 cup of water
1 cm cinnamon stick
Oil or Ghee (or butter) for cooking

Prawn Malaikari

Method:
  1. Make a paste of onions, ginger, garlic, turmeric and chili powder in a blender with little water
  2. Blend cinnamon, cloves, and cardamoms without any water. (dry masala)
  3. Apply salt and turmeric to the prawns and keep aside.
  4. Heat oil or ghee or a mixture of both. Add bay leaves, prawns and fry for a minute.
  5. Now mix yogurt with ground paste. Stir fry the prawns with this mixture till oil separates.
  6. Add coconut milk and salt. Cook till a thick gravy forms.
  7. Remove from heat and garnish with dry ground masala.
