Ingredients:

1 lb shell fish or any other fish
1/2 cup coconut milk
1/4 grated coconut
1 big onion, chopped
4 green chilies, chopped
2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1 small onion, chopped
2 tsp chili powder
Small ball size of tamarind, soaked in water
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds (methi)
2 tbsp coriander powder
1/2 bunch coriander leaves
1 tsp aniseeds
2-3 curry leaves
1 big tomato
2 tbsp oil
Salt to taste

Malabar Fish Curry

Method:
  1. Clean and cut fish into big slices.
  2. Roast grated coconut with aniseeds, fenugreek seeds, chopped onions and curry leaves in 1 tbsp of oil till gratings are brown and blend to make a paste
  3. Heat oil in a pan, add chopped green chilies, onion and fry until brown. Also add ginger-garlic paste, coriander powder, turmeric, salt, chili powder and fry for a minute.
  4. Add fish pieces and cook fish till it is done.
  5. To this, mix coconut paste along with coconut milk.
  6. Finally add chopped tomato, tamarind pulp and coriander leaves. Boil and remove from heat.
  7. Serve hot with steamed rice.
