Ingredients:

2 cups black gram
4 green chilies, chopped
1 onion, chopped
A pinch of asafoetida
A few curry leaves
Oil as needed
Salt to taste

Medhu Vada

Method:
  1. Soak dal in water for 4 hours and grind to a smooth paste for 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add chopped green chilies, onions, asafoetida, salt and curry leaves to the ground paste along with 3 tbsp of hot water.
  3. Mix the paste well thoroughly, make small balls and flatten them on your palm.
  4. Make a small hole at the center of each flat portion. Make 2-3 at a time and gently slip them into hot oil carefully.
  5. Deep fry in batches till golden brown, drain the oil and serve with coconut or any chutney.
    Serves: 4-6
    Preparation time: 20 minutes (excluding fermenting time)
