Ingredients:

Tuvar daal - 1 cup, rinsed
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp.
Onion - 1 medium size, chopped
Green chili - 1-2 chopped
Tomato 1 chopped
Coriander leaves chopped, 2 tbsps
Jeera (cumin seeds) 1/2 tsp.
Oil for frying
Salt to taste

Plain Dal

Method:
  1. Boil daal in water with turmeric powder until it is half cooked.
  2. Add the sliced onions, green chilies, salt and cook until almost done.
  3. Add tomato and coriander leaves, cook for a few more minutes. When done take off the fire.
  4. Heat oil, fry the jeera and add to the daal. Serve hot with chappathis or parathas.
    Serves: 2-3 people
    Preparation time: half an hour
