Ingredients: 1
cup tur dal
2 tbsps oil
1 tsp. mustard seeds
Curry leaves
1 tsp. jeera (cumin) seeds
1 onion
1 big tomato, diced or crushed
1/2 tsp. turmeric
1 tsp. red chili powder
1 lemon size tamarind
Salt to taste

Method:
- Boil tur dal separately, mash it and keep aside.
- Take oil in a kadai, put mustard seeds and jeera seeds. Let mustard seeds splutter. Add
curry leaves.
- Add onion and fry till golden brown. Add tomatoes, fry till oil separates. Add tamarind
and again fry for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Add turmeric and red chili powder. Mix boiled and mashed tur daal and water as per
thickness required.
- Add salt and boil it for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Serve with
papad, rice and pickle.
