Ingredients:

Basmati rice - 1 kg
Mutton/chicken - 1 kg
Ginger-garlic paste - 200g
Cardamoms & cloves - 3g
Cinnamon - a small piece
Onions - 600g
Tomatoes - 450g
Green chilies - 40g
Lemons - 2 (juice)
Yogurt - 200ml
Pudina (mint) leaves - 1/2 bunch
Coriander leaves - 1/2 bunch
Salt to taste
Chili powder - 2 tsp. (adjust, if spicy)
Oil - 300 ml

Easy South-Indian Style Biryani

Method:
  1. Heat the oil, add cardamoms, cloves, cinnamon and fry for a minute.
  2. Add onion, ginger-garlic paste and stir fry for 5 minutes. Then add tomato, green chilies and fry.
  3. Now add chicken or mutton, salt, chili powder, keep it closed until gets cooked. Then add lemon juice, yogurt, pudina and coriander leaves.
  4. Then add rice and water to it, when this boils, close the lid and pressure cook in low heat until done. Garnish & serve with salad!
  5. Garnishing: In oil fry 2 - 3 onions till it becomes light brown and also fry raisins & cashew nuts.
  6. Note: Ratio of rice to water is 1:1.5, adjust the water left over in cooker after the meat gets cooked. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, drain & then add!
    Serves: 4 - 5
