Ingredients:

2 cups of all-purpose flour (maida)
3 teaspoons of vegetable oil
2 pinches of salt
1/2 cup of water

Chapattis

Method:
  1. Mix flour, salt and oil together. Add water gradually to prepare a thick dough. Knead the dough well.
  2. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions. Flatten each portion with a rolling pin. Try to roll out a circle of 3mm (1/10 inch) thick and 12 cm (5 inches) across.
  3. Heat a frying pan on low flame, cook the chapatti evenly, turning over to avoid burning. As it cooks it will puff up. Serve hot with butter, if desired.
    Makes 6 chapattis
