Feature: Water & Its Healing Powers
Whenever there is water shortage in the house, one would prioritize the use of water for essential purposes. Similarly, when the body receives less water histamine, a chemical compound present in all cells, initiates a system of water regulation. Histamine directs some neurotransmitters to operate sub-systems to regulate water intake. These sub-systems use chemical substances such as "vasopressin" and renin-angiotensin" for regulating water intake and distribution.

Cooking For Health: Yogurt - Dietary Benefits
Yogurt can be helpful in restoring the digestive tract to its normal condition after a course of antibiotics, which are liable to indiscriminately destroy all intestinal bacteria, both good and bad.
Some people who are unable to digest dairy products where the condition is due to the loss of the enzyme lactose during adulthood can tolerate yogurt. This enzyme converts lactose to lactic acid and without it, any lactose ingested in milk products will sit undigested in the intestine, attracting water and causing bloating, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. As lactose is already converted to lactic acid during the manufacture of yogurt, people more easily digest it with lactose intolerance than other dairy products.

Tip of the week
Cooking:

When a large serving is required use the julienne recipe (veggies cut into inch long thin strips) since more can be sizzled in one round. Or supplement this dish with the patties, etc. of the veggie sizzle.
Health:
The term 'extra lean' on a food label of meat or poultry means the food contains less than 5 grams of total fat, 2 grams of saturated fat and 95 mg of cholesterol per 3 ounce serving. Look for extra lean ground beef and turkey when making burgers and casseroles and stick to the 3 ounce portion size to reduce total fat intakes.
